Watermeln on the Quay at "Sustainable Boating" in Leiden
On Saturday, May 25, 2025, during the Sustainable Boating Day at Beestenmarkt in the Municipality of Leiden, Watermeln will be supplying silent, clean energy right in the city – without hydrogen!
Our Hydrogen Generator is temporarily being used as a battery pack here, powered by a small grid connection. This way, we're supporting the event's charging infrastructure, where visitors can test drive over ten electric or hybrid boats.
Why without hydrogen?
Due to the combination of limited grid capacity and a relatively small power demand, the WM200 has been cleverly deployed in this situation as a standalone buffer. Had the continuous power demand been higher – or the grid connection even tighter – then hydrogen would have been a logical next step here.
