Unable to get a grid connection for your new development?
We provide the power!
We provide the power!
Prevent delays in your new housing projects. Provide residents with immediate electricity using Watermeln’s silent, zero-emission off-grid solutions, regardless of grid connection delays.
Clean energy, made easy
It is one of the biggest frustrations for project developers and contractors today. The apartment complex is completed, the heat pumps are installed, but the regional grid operator cannot connect the neighborhood yet due to grid congestion. This means you cannot hand over the keys, buyers are dissatisfied, and financial damages quickly mount. Waiting for grid reinforcements often takes years. That is simply not an option.
Watermeln offers the sustainable alternative. We bridge the waiting period with scalable, local power solutions based on green hydrogen and smart battery systems. This ensures you can still deliver your project right on schedule.
Use cases
When the permanent grid connection is delayed, we install a temporary, decentralized power plant. This supplies the entire apartment complex or residential area with stable electricity for lighting, heating (heat pumps), and household use. Once the grid operator finalizes the permanent connection, we dismantle the installation.
Heavy equipment is necessary during construction, but a temporary power connection is often not yet available. Rather than relying on polluting diesel generators, Watermeln provides green hydrogen generators. This ensures you have the peak power required for cranes and site offices, while directly supporting your nitrogen and CO2 reduction goals (essential for your AERIUS calculations and permits).
For larger complexes, we can set up a local power network (microgrid). We seamlessly integrate our hydrogen and battery systems with any rooftop solar panels, ensuring the available power is smartly and efficiently distributed across the apartments.
The Watermeln WM-200 offers the lowest operational costs, the highest efficiency, and the most flexibility in practice. Thanks to its integrated design, extra costs for batteries, diesel, or complex logistics are eliminated.
Compare costs with other solutionsThe Watermeln WM-200 is available not just to rent, but also to purchase for organizations looking to own their zero-emission energy supply outright.

How fast can Watermeln deploy a temporary power supply?
We know that every day of delay costs you money. Once your capacity needs are mapped out, we can typically have a fully operational system on-site within a matter of weeks. This covers the complete installation of both the hydrogen generators and the battery storage.
Is hydrogen safe to use in residential areas?
Absolutely. Since we deliver power directly to neighborhoods, we make zero compromises on safety. Our systems are constructed from premium components and strictly engineered to the highest industrial standards, including current PGS guidelines. Thanks to their robust, enclosed design, our installations are just as safe and reliable as any standard modern utility in your development.
Can you handle winter peak loads from heat pumps and EV chargers?
Yes, that is exactly what our hybrid systems are engineered to do. Homes without gas connections draw significant power during the winter months (particularly in the mornings and early evenings) from heat pumps, induction hobs, and electric vehicle charging. By pairing our hydrogen generators with high-capacity battery systems for peak-shaving, we effortlessly absorb these power spikes, ensuring the local network never overloads or shuts down.
What happens to the setup once the grid operator finally connects the neighborhood?
Our residential power solutions are completely flexible. As soon as Liander, Enexis, Stedin, or another regional grid operator establishes the permanent connection to the main grid, we will safely dismantle and remove the entire off-grid installation. There are no long-term commitments; you simply use the system as a temporary bridge.
Who manages the hydrogen supply?
At Watermeln, we operate on an 'As-a-Service' model, meaning we provide a completely hassle-free experience. Through smart software, we remotely monitor the generators' power consumption and fuel levels. Long before the hydrogen runs low, we automatically schedule a refill. Neither you nor the residents need to lift a finger.
Won't the generators be noisy for the residents?
Unlike traditional, roaring diesel generators, our hydrogen fuel cells and batteries are whisper-quiet. This makes our solution perfectly suited for densely built apartment complexes and residential neighborhoods, where noise standards are strict and the living comfort of the new residents is crucial.
